This is my life!
Wow, how crazy has life been for the past few months?! Working 3rd shift, raising four kids, and trying to find time to do the things I love has forced me to put off writing on this blog again.
At the end of April Amazon.com ran a promotion on Dungeon Siege 3 for $5 and having played Dungeon Siege 1 & 2 I could not pass that up. I spent my spare time beating that a couple of times waiting for Diablo 3 to come along. That just so happened to be my birthday gift from my wonderful wife and I have been eagerly awaiting this game since the first time I beat Diablo 2. I got on the Diablo and Diablo 2 train a little late so it has only been just over 10 years since that first time and I have probably spent at least 1000 hours playing those first two games.
While there has been a lot of criticism of this game due to the astounding amount of time (in gamer years) between releases, I have to say that I am just satisfied to have spent my time within this world I have loved for so long. But my first time through I had some strange cases of deja vu. These had nothing to do with the storyline but had to do with how a lot of the monsters resembled ones from the Dungeon Siege and then there are the ones that every sci-fi fan should have recognized…the Rockworms and the Great Worm are all based on those from Dune to the point that the category for the Great Worm is Great Maker. I have to say that that was a wonderful cameo.
I don’t get a lot of time to play, maybe an hour in the mornings after work and every once and a while at night when I have to wear headphones or mute the game for my wife’s sake but I’ll take what I can get. I am only a Level 46 Barbarian on Nightmare level but I am still having fun. I have dabbled a bit in the Gold Auction House, bought and sold a few items, but do not think I will be giving the Real Money Auction House (RMAH) any love at any time in the future. I will never pay real money for items to improve my character and I don’t want to deal with the hassle of trying to sell my own items.
I will be continuing to play this and then trying out a few of the other classes so I may not be back as often as my wife would like me to be but I’ll see what I can do.
Having a 4 year old is entertaining.
Having a 4 year old with a very active imagination is even MORE entertaining.
Our little guy is constantly pretending to be somebody he is not.
Right now his big thing is pretending that everyone in our family is a different Avenger.
He is currently playing the role of Tony Stark / Iron Man, his mom is Black Widow and his baby sister is Little Black Widow, his big brother is Hawkeye and I am Hulk.
Since he has been playing this Avenger game with us for a few days now, I thought it would be fun if we found some Halloween Costumes to surprise him. My wife spent a bit of time last night searching different Adult Halloween Costumes online and has already placed an order for a Hulk mask for me. I can’t wait for it to arrive….I’m’ going to put it on one morning and wake him up that way!
Who knows, maybe we can outfit the whole family with Costumes and have a theme this Halloween.
Now that we have 4 kids in our house, things are pretty chaotic….all the time. We are looking forward to Summer getting here soon and the kids being out of school. Although the regular school year will be over, the 3 oldest will be off to Summer school for a few weeks. This will be the little dude’s first year in Summer school and we think it will be the last for the 2 oldest and have been considering different Summer Camp Programs for next year. We have been looking at a variety of options that are available to us. For the oldest, I think he may enjoy a sleep away type of camp but as for the girl, I think she will need to do just a day camp.
My wife attended a non-tradtional Summer camp program as a teen and worked for the Wisconsin DNR at a Youth Conservation Camp and says that the month she was there was one of the best experiences she had as a kid and that is something we both want for our kids as well.
At least we have plenty of time to plan for next Summer and I’m sure we will continue to do so but right now we are preparing for the craziness that will be a Summer filled with swimming, soccer and tball!
Do your children attend a Summer Camp Program?
